I know what you mean - you're trying to source the material..
Wooden knitting needles might do the job. I pick them up in a department store, crafts section, but you can get them online of course. Budget Bamboo Knitting Needles 35cm long - 5.5mm: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home Getting the taper correct, that's the thing. Different grades of sandpaper and of course - patience.! |

What is the best way to get the various rods and wires called for in these models?

Paperclips – larger clips give you larger diameter wire. Straighten uning a bull nose pliers. Toothpicks Spaghetti (Yes, yes, I know I know!) Kebab skewers Knitting needles Common wire – remove the sheatheing until you have a meter of the copper strands exposed. Unravel the strands. Straighten by dragging long lengths through a piece of old crusty mat, dense sponge or sandwiched between Velcro (hook and loop tape as some like to call it!) Or pick some up here when you get a kit: ŁAŃCUCHY , NICI , LINKI • Hope this helps, Regards, Alan |

Piano wire is very good, and comes in a number of different gauges.
