23 – Hydravion
Thank you Very Much Don and Fred.
Work with both aircraft continues. Experimentation was one of the purposes behind this project. So the time spent creating the Hydravion for this ship has been great fun. A total of 51 parts went into the construction of each. The final image shows Hydravion number 2 from the rear, partially assembled. I borrowed a design idea from the early Wright Brothers’ work by adding twin belt driven “pusher” propellers. I thought it would give them the vintage “antique” appearance I was trying to achieve. Kind Regards, Mike |

Hi Mike!
You are making great progress when I check the forum, I always start with the same builds. This work is also among them... The seaplane is a pleasant surprise... Sincerely, Joe

24 – Hydravion and 12 Meter Boats
Thank you Don. Your German phrase captures it best!
Thanks Mike, Joe, Wireandpaper and USS Missouri. It’s good to have you looking over the work. Here is another group of photos. The aircraft are complete. Manufacture of the platform is finished. Two 12 Meter Boats have also been assembled. Aircraft number 1 has a laser-cut airframe made of thin card. Aircraft number 2 has a hand-cut airframe made of paper. All the other parts of the aircraft are paper except for the outboard wing struts, steering wheel and propellers. Those are laser-cut from thin card. The boat thwarts are card. The oars are laser-cut. The remaining parts for the boats are paper. The hydravion platform and railing are made of paper. Notice in image 182: The aircraft on the left has a “laser cut” airframe, while the aircraft on the right has a “hand cut” airframe. So that leaves me with an extra “laser cut” airframe in the foreground, since two were made for this project. We will find a place on board to stow the extra one. Kind Regards, Mike |

25 – Hydravion and 12 Meter Boats Installed
Thank you Fred.
A ladder has been added to the aircraft platform. I decided to install the 12 Meter boats on either side of the stern mast, while placing the ten meter boats down next to the aircraft platform. Finally aircraft number 2 takes its place on the docking platform. Kind Regards, Mike Last edited by Michael Mash; 11-17-2022 at 11:26 AM. |
