05 – Upper Hull

Reporting progress with Ulfberht . . . .
A few photos to show some work with the wing walls, upper hull and wing decks.
With tall straight sides the pieces were not difficult to work with. It all seemed to blend well with the midship wing barbettes. Those will hold 12-inch (305mm) single turrets. The large holes in the forward and aft decks will be the location of the forward and aft 12-inch double turrets. Still in the planning stages are the decorations for the hull sides. One can see openings for a couple of different types of guns near the barbette and along the sides.

Next will come the aft upper hull pieces, admirals walk and the waterline armor belt.

Kind Regards,
Mike

Coming along very nicely!
What sort of hull decorations have you in mind? Filigree..or something more dramatic?

Thanks Greg.
By hull decorations . . . there could be some limited filigree . . . but I was referring to guns, torpedo net booms, catwalk, and any other devices that can be found on vessels from this era.
However, I do have a shield type of decoration in the works for the stern, to be seen later.

Another surprise from the previous post: after designing the construction, we can also get to know the graphic work. The deck and the side of the ship were very nice.
