Well chums, after a busy festive period, it's back to the bench. Hope you all had a great time and that Santa was good to you. Apparently there was no naughty list this year, so that's probably why I had a bumper-haul from JSC.
Anyhoo, I had a productive couple of sessions scratch-building masts, stays and gun barrels. This image shows the bridge elements in place. I have added spray screens, and various bridge accoutrements from rolled paper rods and disks. The rangefinders have rolled paper bases with the black parts from single core wire. The tripod mast is from plastic rod, but the top-mast is turned from brass rod. The parts are just tacked in place at the moment to check for fit and alignment, before fitting spars. I must note that at this stage, the kit parts fitted perfectly to the given dimensions of the templates.

Hello chums and Happy New Year. I've been busy pootling away at making small stuff for the fittings.
This is one of the twin Oerlikon mounts which I have designed, paper of course, but the barrels are from fuse wire. This is a selection of the stuff so far. New 4" HA mount, quad pom-poms, HA director towers and 6" gun barrels and mounts. 4" HA mounting The 6" gun barrels were surprisingly easy to roll from cigarette paper. Still some bits-and-bobs to attach to these before fitting. Stay tooned!

Thanks Greg, a good magnifying glass helps here. Some updates on the weapons.
The BL 6" guns were fun to build with lots of tiny bits. I used the shield from the kit but removed the base to enable it to fit over the new parts. Looks the part fitted to 'B' position. Also shown are the extra scratch-built details added here such as web, vents etc. On the after gun deck with the new twin 4" HA mount. Stay tooned Chums.

Hello all,
Hadn't realised it was so long since the last post for this build. I have pootling along on this and other projects for a while. Anyhoo, here is a small update. I have always had problems making bollards for my ships, so, I came up with an idea for making a guillotine to cut even sized and square sections. It is cobbled together from 2mm fibre board. It has room to support a sliding single-edged blade and has an adjustable fence. First test and it worked as planned. producing 1.5 by 1mm parts, which were fixed in place with some superglue.
