Good morning to all paper modelers worldwide...
In this last weekend, I have found some spare time for completing the steam torpedo boats of Borodino and also all the other two steam launches.. In the following pics are some view of the torpedo boats, the installation on the boats supports and one pic of one of the other two steam launches. It was not a simple task to built, but I'm enough satisfied of the result. Have an happy paper-modeling !! Ciao Jp

Hello to all paper-modelers worldwide !!!
Hoping you all had a Merry Christmas and will have an Happy New Year, I want to share with you some progresses that I made in the last months on the model of Russian battleship BORODINO At least, quite all the barges and steam boats have been positioned in the holding structure in the middle of the ship... started to work on standing rigging for the masts, positioned the binnacles and the range finder on the upper decks and start to work on lateral cranes along the hull for little boats, dinghies and barges... Honestly I really still don't know if Ill put boats attached to all such cranes .. it will depends how I'll feel myself at that time ;-) There are still many particulars and components to build... all the railings along the hull, all the poles bringing the ant-torpedo nets, anchors and chains, more standing rigging to put on, propellers and, surely, a good stand for the model + a transparent case .... So, looking at the even less spare time, at the actual building of the USS Brooklyn that I'm working at the same time, I think that will pass more other months before to consider completed the Borodino model.. Anyway..here some pics of the actual status of the model A wish to everybody for a wonderful New Year full pf of paper modeling !! ciao Jp

Hello JP:
Nice to get a look at this one again. Great work with all the boats and barges in the center of the ship. Borodino has many of the wonderful old characteristics of the bygone era, such as the railing on top of the turrets, the spaces for the anchors near the bow, and those lovely old torpedo boats. I also like the ramparts along the center of the ship, like some medieval battlement. Happy New Year JP. Mike |

Great looking model.I like the look of pre-dreadnought battleships. Ages ago I build a Potiomkin battleship from Maly kit.It was far,far simpler than this Borodino but that was done long before computers.
Not that long ago someone build pretty detailed model of a torpedo boat much like those you have here (of course much larger) It was a beautiful work of art. Not sure if it was presented on this forum . |
