Russian Battleship BORODINO

Good morning to all paper-modelers worldwide

In last period, while I was building the model of Admiral Nakhimov cruiser, I started also the build of a 1:200 scale model of Russian Battleship BORODINO.

I saw that there were other threads, here in the forum, about this unlucky ship ans so I don't want to bother you repeating too much the historical and physical data about this battleship, just remembering that this battleship was launched on September 1901, participated in the Russia-Japanese War and was sunk during the Battle of Tsushima om 27th May 1905.

She got an armament composed by :
2 × twin 12 in (305 mm) guns
6 × twin 6 in (152 mm) guns
20 × single 75 mm (3 in) guns
20 × single 47 mm (1.9 in) guns
4 × 15 in (381 mm) torpedo tubes

More info on the ship are available on Wikipedia at the link : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russia...eship_Borodino

The paper kit has been produced by Dom Bumagi firm, in 1:200 scale and I bought the kit from the GPM online shop.

I have decided to leave opened all the shields protecting the secondary guns (broadside) in order to permit to have a little look of the inside of the battery deck.

As in my all models, I tried to made as much as possible by paper (included all gun barrels, railings and stairs)

The building is very long because the very complicate superstructure and the many bridges that are high over the ship's waterline. I think that it will take still many months to be completed.

Here some pics of the building and the actual status of the model.

Have an happy modeling and stay safe !!

Ciao

Jp

Look forward to following your progress.

Hello to all paper-modelers !!

The Borodino model is going forward a bit slowly....
In last weeks the only things I was able to build were the military masts with top posts and some components (included the ladders steps running along the masts)

Next steps will be to put on the standing rigging for each of the two masts and continue with the boat's cranes in front o the aft funnel, passing to the many little ladders and starting to complete the decks particulars and elements (last guns, light projectors, some other superstructures elements like anchors' cranes, anchors posts and some other...)

After those I'm planning to build the steam launches, the boats, dinghies and everything is still missing....

But I'm afraid that all such tasks will take many other months before to be completed...

Anyway.. here below some pics of the actual status of the Borodino

Happy paper modeling !

ciao

Jp

It is always a pleasure to see your work JP.
This is a fascinating old ship.
I like the design of the mid-ship bulwarks.
The railing on the forward and aft superstructures looks great.
