It's not a problem..I'll clean it ... just once I'll have a bit of time to make it.. This is not the first (and probably will be not) the first time I made this... and also last time I was able to clean the marble of the rail of the patio :-) ciao Jp

Hello to all the worldwide paper modelers !!
In the next pictures you'll see the actual status of the USS BROOKLYN model, that, very slowly, is coming out. Some of the superstructures has been put in place.. vents, some railings, last rapid-fire guns, the conning tower and the main command bridge.. Now, as further steps, there will be the building of the rest of the superstructures, included the three tall funnels, a peculiar element of this nice cruiser. I'll keep you updated on the building, but I plan that the model will be terminated after the end of the year 2021.... Have a nice time, and have an happy paper-modeling ! ciao Jp

Hello to all paper modelers !!
Slowly, very slowly, the model of USS BROOKLYN is going forward. Since the last update, there have been few (but important) add-on on the model. Surely the three, tall, funnels, a particular element of this ship. Because each funnel is very long, also the modeling of the paper pieces was not so simple, in order to maintain the straight shape and the round circumference at both ends. Also the steam pipes, on the backward of each funnel was not so simple to built... I have realized each pipe in three pieces, jointed each one and strengthened, inside, by a peace of metallic wire. The front military mast, with the conning tower over the pilot post, is only put, and not glued, because, first of all, it must to be completed with machine-gun, navigation lights and some other piece of wire for other support. In any case, in the pictures, the military mast has been positioned in the wrong direction .. ;-) with the front part of the mast looking at the stern direction... But, when the mast will be glued at place, the direction will be the right one ! :-) Further steps will be the building of all boats, steam launches and dinghies, all positioned on the superstructure at middle of the ship.. So it will be more simple to build the rear military must with the boats' crane at place and put all the wires that hold the funnels. Anyway..I hope you'll like the pics Have an happy paper modeling !! ciao Jp

Hello JP . . . Excellent photos.
Great work. The detailed ladders/rungs going up the funnels is a very fine detail. Apparently, (as I learned here from Fred), the funnels were very tall to induce more upward draft. That way the boilers ran hotter and they produced more steam pressure. Happy Modeling! Mike Last edited by Michael Mash; 11-09-2021 at 06:53 AM. Reason: Spelling correction |

Hello to all papermodelers worldwide!!
The model of USS BROOKLYN is going forward, slowly, but constantly... in the last weeks I have built all the barges and steam boats that are hosted in the upper superstructure running between the funnels. It was not so simple to build such boats... and I'm not completely satisfied of the final results, but it's ok ... just I have added some little particulars like oars and strings to maintain locked the boats. I have also added by metallic wire (0,2 millimeters) the standing rigging for funnels and foremast... Now the next step will be to build the horizontal windlasses near the rear mast and the two main cranes at center of the ship. After will be the time for the main guns and for all the railings and little particulars that will complete the hull. I hope you'll like the pics of the actual status of the model.... Have a happy and satisfying paper modeling !! ciao Jp
