HNLMS Tijger 1868 by ccoyle - Paper Shipwright - 1/250 - finished model

Hello, friends! It only took me three weeks to churn out my next model. This one is HNLMS Tijger 1868 in 1/250 scale from the Paper Shipwright kit. The kit has a number of minor issues, mainly related to parts numbering, but the diagrams clear most of these up. The biggest issue is that the boats will not fit according to the arrangement called for in the kit without interfering with the mainmast shrouds. So, I followed the visual cue in the images shown at the PS website and simply swapped the locations of the boats. This also required shifting the positions of the two aft-most davits, but you probably wouldn't notice unless I told you (which I did). Otherwise, it is an enjoyable kit and makes a nice little model. The fancy display case is a cheap plastic box intended for 1/18 scale collectible cars -- picked it up at Hobby Lobby for $15. Enjoy the pics!

Nice work, Chris!

I always like to see a Paper Shipwright model, and you did a fine job on this one, including what looks like the application of the David Hathaway railing methodology.

Thank you, Don. Yes, I used the railings template supplied in the kit. It's not difficult once one gets the hang of it.

Well done. I've had this kit for years, and I'll use your tips when I finally get to build it.
