First of all an explanatory intro - I've been away from modeling for about five years because of many things. Needed time to sort things out and there was not much roon for any hobbies. I've visited the forum silently over the years but there must be a lot things that I've missed. Anyway it's good to be back and very good to cut, fold and glue again.

I've had this kit for years in my stash along wit laser-cut frame set. I picked this one becaus I've never built a period ship from paper, wooden ones plank on framen type ship yes but never from paper. The inspiration came from this forum I must say.

Pretty basic start nothing new here. Cut the frames and construct the hull framework. Before skinning the hull you need to build some inside interiors if you wish to do so. Those are galley, officers hallway and captain's quarters. One tube of glue consumed on with the next one.

And welcome back here! I take my breaks from card bending and folding now and then as well... Unfortunately not everyone has the luxury of committing to model making on a full time schedule.

These are great pictures and a very precise and clean start to this beautiful period ship! I like the story behind the Endeavor and have seen a bunch of documentaries and short series and movies about Captain James Cook!

Take your time with the hull. Remember how DORIS used tea-steam to soften the card to bend it nicely? Maybe you give it a try?

It was very creative and artfully done.

Your ship is off to a good start. The images are nice and clear.
One can see the nice detail in the stern cabin (Image 8438).

Hi Radek and thanks for the notions. Wise words not hurrying at this stage, the foundation must be laid well otherwise... So far everything bends well between finger but I remember that stean trick later with the heavier 'timber'.

To everyone else Radek's comment me being a full time modeler is true at least now. I'm retired and to get the build started well I've spent three full days with it, 8 to 10 hours daily. ;-)

So I've got the hull below waterline covered. I'm pretty happy with the result and her lines start to appear. Light sanding and some strenthening with superglue and that was that.

Next will be the decks all three of them. I have some issues to fix before glueing them in places. The stern deck's (or quarter deck?) laser cut base part has openings that don't match the printed planking piece. I guess I just use the mast holes to align the pieces and work on from that situation. The forecastle is ok but main deck is a bit short. I have figure those things before I can start plating the upper hull. I also made the deck support beams for the captain's quarters so this will be last time to peak in.
