Looks like your traditional exceptionally clean and precise work, Carl.
At this stage, the models looks to my eye similar to an unbuilt USS Dewey (DD-349) that I began scratch building around 1957 and never finished. I think I started with an Edward Wiswesser 1/384 plan, or else drew my own plan at 1/32" = 1 foot (roughly 1/370). I still have the unfinished model in the basement, one of countless works-in-progress that languish on my shelves in the basement, laundry room, and garage. Apologies for the diversion. I am am enjoying this design and build Don. |

Not at all, Don. We all have had these projects. Sadly, my family discarded all of mine that they had control over many years ago.
Is there any chance you could take a picture with your phone to share with us? I love these projects. Carl |

Thanks for the feedback bluesky.
To avoid cluttering up Carl's thread, I have posted the images of my old models and collections in a new thread: Non-paper models and collections from long ago Don |

I HAVE been working... really. I just haven't reached a point for taking a suite of photos. So here are two nearly unposed photos. One shows the model with pieces glued down including all but one of the gun tubs. The funnel caps are not perfect but I'm not redoing them - little nightmare assemblies.
Then I started looking at the mast and realized that it can be based on a sanded down toothpick (not shown). And then I was distracted by worries about 1:600 railings and AA guns. For fun I ordered some photo-lith parts for twin 40mm Bofors and single 20mm Oerlikons. You can almost make them out in the "cup" that I use for tiny parts. There are also a couple of my early gun shields as well as rolled 5" guns awaiting installation. I believe I might actually use the tiny AA guns on the model rather than my much cruder paper bits. I also have some tiny 1:600 ships boats, one of which at least would have been tucked into the clutter on the starboard side of the funnels. Carl |

It's definitely taking shape!
It looks like the funnel caps would be a real challenge. Don |

I can see those funnels in the first image.
Nice work. 1:600 is a challenge. Mike |
