CL-52 update
Hi All
Here's a new vocabulary word for you, "syncope." It can turn your life nose over tea kettle in an instant. Getting through this will take some time. The point is that everything from here on is going to be much slower and deliberate. I'm falling back on the old rule. Do one piece a day no matter how you feel about it. Concentration right now is on the middle superstructure section. A very rough dummy has been made and fits properly. A refined version is under construction. Can't say for certain when it will be going into place, but a report will be made when it does. Regards, rjccjr |

CL-52 update
Hi All;
Still have some serious medical issues. Everything has to go very slowly from here since there is limited stamina they are resolved. Snail's pace is the new normal. Made some progress with CL-52. The middle superstructure is now in place and the bases for the twin five inch mounts are as well. Next on the agenda is to draw the anti aircraft mounts. Giving some thoughts to making the rotating tables for the saddle mounts to make sure that they fit properly. Regards rcjcjr |

CL-52 update
Hi All;
There has to be at least some obsessive compulsive element in anyone who achieves anything, simply because it takes lots of practice and concentration to get anything finished. Here are three pictures. The first shows CL-52 with the drum mounts for the simplified wing turrets. The second shows them removed. The last shows the partially assembled rotator tables and turret shields. The elevation parts are being omitted. The rotators are a very tricky assembly because the fit is so tight. a slip of the hand and the whole assembly winds up getting glued together and is useless. Have to wait for the part of the day when the tremors aren't too bad. The early turrets had no ejection chutes, so there had to be room for crewmen to get the spent shell casings out of the way of the turret. That's why the indentation in the superstructure was designed. Regards, rjccjr |

Your ship is taking shape. Well, one could call it “obsessive and compulsive”,
But . . . I want to complement you on your dedication and perseverance. Mike |

CL-52 update
Hi All;
The side turrets are now mounted and rotate comfortably clearing the superstructure. The first two pictures show the starboard turret in two different positions. The third shows the port turret before placement. The last two show both turrets in place, pointed aft. Next up is drawing the stacks, which usually becomes an odious task, especially getting the hoods to fit properly. After that will be the small weapons tubs. Regards, rjccjr |

CL-52 update
Hi All;
Have started placement of the 1.1"gun tubs. The two wing tubs forward are slightly different. There are several interpretations of the shape of the forward bases, so the after tubs went in first. They are pretty straight forward. The mount just before the five inch turret is up on a peculiar pedestal. It tucks around an indentation which hides the five inch loading machines. The odd funnel shaped objects on the sides are spent shell chutes. Regards, rjccjr |

CL-52 update
Hi All;
Great day with the tremors, actually got enough control to thread a needle. If you aren't afflicted with the condition, you have no idea what that takes. The forward 1.1" mounts had to be redrawn and are now in place. The guns are partially drawn. The remaining 20mm tubs are cut and will be assembled shortly. Still have to get around to placing the last two five inch turrets, but that should be fairly straight forward. The drawings are now backdated to the early mounts. There are significant differences from the later ships in the class. For example no shell ejection chutes on the back of the turret and no protected hood on the top rear of the mount. Then on to the stacks, which are going to be beasts. Regards, rjccjr |

She is looking very sharp mate and I have no doubt you will pull a great build out of your hat. Your method of dealing with this situation is basically the only one, patience and be kind to yourself. A friend of mine had a fungal brain infection which had similar effects. This is a fine place to be and I know folk are happy to be here for you when needed.
