HMS Endurance, first in line 40 years later

Dear All:

The HMS Endurance, A171, was in line 40 years ago in the South Atlantic/North Antarctic waters. Even her tiny Wasps were used in anger disabling the ARA Santa Fe.

This is a ship that I have wanted to build for let’s say 20 years if not 40, but there is very little information available regarding the overall lay out of the vessel. No blueprints, at least I have not found them.

Does anyone know where to find reliable information? I think I am ready to design and build this project, including the Wasps, and visiting Wessex.

This will go fine with post-war RN stuff Pablo! I have just done a quick google on her and Wikipedia gives dimensions etc. Combine this with the plethora of photos available and you should be able to run up a set of scantlings for her. Worth a try.

Thank you Bernie,
I agree, plenty of photos but no planviews!
Only one decent profile.
A lot of room for interpretation :-)

I'm not sure how much difference there was between Anita Dan which became HMS Endurance and Magga Dan which was another Polar research ship built by the same firm, but there is a plan of Magga Dan available to buy from Sarik:

MM456 Magga Dan - Sarik Hobbies - for the Model Builder

These ships are not the same, HMS Endurance was about 15 meters longer and her superstructure was situated midships

HMS Endurance

Magga Dan

Thank you Francis and Foute Man for the info.
These are my first and second working drafts of the HMS Endurance. I finally realized the main superstructure is asymmetrical.
As I mentioned earlier, a lot of room for interpretation.
Next are the davits, observation post, main mast and radar.
I hope you like it.

PS:
RIP Elizabeth Regina (truly the end of an Era).

HMS Endurance WIP

This is an update on the HMS Endurance. I added main davits, communications twin mast, main radar, refined hull, pennant number and helipad ID. Still in draft format, I need to do some refinements on the hull, boats, canisters, antennas, a few hatches, and other small things, like the Wasp helicopter, before I do the final version. Did I mentioned that I was distracted by the Almirante Maximiano?

Helicopter for the Endurance

The Endurance still in draft form but I was able to complete a Westland Wasp from Bruno reduced from 1/100 to 1/400 although highly simplified. As you may know Endurance's Wasp did some damage on the submarine ARA Santa Fe.

Great rendition of the Wasp in that tiny scale, Pablo.
