Zollkreuzer Helgoland - HMV - 1:250

Hello seafaring friends

After completing my Sherman tank, it's back on the water

With the customs cruiser Helgoland I have chosen a fine model from the HMV.

1490 parts in well-known HMV quality are spread over twelve pages...

... the picture assembly instructions also have 12 pages

I also treated myself to the laser cut set

So I'm looking forward to cutting my new maritime model soon (the first cut is the deepest).

Sincerely
Kurt

Hello, everyone

then I'll start with the customs cruiser

I start with the two torpedo-shaped buoyancy bodies which are built detachable ... many parts ...

... the doubled skeleton is glued and longitudinal straps are attached

Sincerely
Kurt

An interesting ship. I am trying to figure out how the Bundeszollverwaltung (Federal Customs Service?) works and its relationship to the Coast Guard (Küstenwache).

It seems as if the customs service has the law enforcement, but not the maritime safety, lifesaving, buoy tending, and ice breaking roles of the U.S. Coast Guard.

In any event, Helgoland is an interesting and (to my eye) unusual-looking vessel with its broad-beamed catamaran SWATH hull and twin funnels up forward.

I will enioy watching you build this one.

Don

Hello Don , welome on board

The fifteen transverse flaps are glued, then the covering of the cigar follows... after five hours of construction, the first "cigar" is finished, the second is awaiting completion

After another five hours of construction, the second buoyancy body is also completed,

Great construction, everything is easy to do!

Sincerely
Kurt

Nice beginning Kurt.
You build many many models . . . where do you keep them?
Perhaps you live in an old castle in the mountains . . . with plenty of space?

Hello Mike ,

I d´ont live in a old castel , but in a little house with the best wife
and that´s the way because I can keep all models in the rooms

now lets go on ...

Glue part U 21 on both sides with parts U23 after the frames U21A + B have been inserted ... Install U 22 on the inside where the connection U 22B will later be glued in

Connect the two parts... and attach the rudder

Sincerely

Kurt

With the last small parts ... the first underwater hull is ready

... and after 16 hours of construction I can put both buoyancy devices aside ... the frame of the fuselage follows

Sincerely
Kurt
