Thanks, I'm enjoying this kit very much!

After putting on the next deck (which runs across the center of the ship), it's time to do the hull sides. To me, the trickiest part is getting the left and right sides to join each other precisely, especially when there is half of a ship name on the left that matches to the other half on the right. And, as always, I get some wrinkles down the sides; however, once the sides were completed then the individual flaws became less obvious.

I'm always relieved to get the sides finished. Next comes walls on top of that upper deck.

Best regards,
Kurt

Hello,

The ship is getting taller. I found that the bridge part (Photo 2631, the front of the top walls) was somewhat difficult to line up because it wasn't clear that the side-most windows curve around toward the rear of the ship, plus I didn't see a good way to align the centerline. Aside from that, assembly has been straight-forward.

The funnel parts are fitting together pretty well.

Best regards,
Kurt

Hello,

Work continues on smaller parts, now. There are two options for the windlass on the front deck. The photo shows the simpler version which I chose because doing tiny parts (as on the best-looking version) is kind of difficult for me now that my eyes are older.

Also, the kit came with laser-cut parts and I did not realize that there were laser-cut chains until after I had used the original ones. I did not want to rip these back off and risk damaging the appearance of the windlass, so the card chains will remain.

Take care,
Kurt

Looks great Kurt! This is going to be a good looking ship! The funnel came out well. Looking forward to more, espically the lifeboats and davits... What are you planning for hand rails? You do such Nice clean work ... Very precise!

I'm enjoying this build very much..can't wait to see more.

Gregg

I thank each of you you for your compliments!

For davits, I'll be using the laser-cut parts that were included. Normally davits bog me down but the laser parts should take care of that. I wasn't planning on adding any extra rails that weren't already in the kit, but if I did, I'd get laser-cut railings similar to those I recently used for the first time on the San Mateo ferry boat.

Lately I'm working on vents and other small parts. I'll take another photo soon.

Best regards,
Kurt
