Alexander Arbuthnot 1/100 from World of Paperships

Hello ladies and gentlemen, even though I'm currently "working" on two bigger models I kind of needed something smaller to take my mind off of things, so I went through my stash and found this little thing :

The hull is fairly easy and uncomplicated, not to mention "small" compared to my other current projects (SMS Gneisenau and the big steam locomotive Bulgar) :

It's a nice change not to have to laminate on heavier cardstock in this kit, the thickest you get to cut is two layers when you have to fold a couple of parts :

You get to choose between a "detailed" version with steam engine and open wheels and an easier version with printed-on-a-box engine and closed drums for wheels... I'll try the detailed version, otherwise I would have no business here :

It's good to know you can download this page for free from their website, you know... just in case...
And that's where I am at the moment, I'll work some more on it next weekend :

See you later all...

Small, but detailed enough. Nice choice and thank you for letting us follow along

And here we are again.

First of all, I wanted to show what the simplified engine bay would look like :

However, as said before, I will try to actually make the steam engine :

And in place it looks like this :

(The toothpick is only there to align everything while the glue is curing)

Another day, and here I am with another minor update.

One of the wheel is ready, it took me best part of the evening but I was lucky to pull it off without destroying the delicate parts.

This time I used the toothpick to hold on to the thing while putting it together.

After I will have constructed the second wheel tomorrow, I will paint them in the more or less matching colours.

Well, both wheel are now ready and painted, not 100% to my satisfaction, but I comfort myself with the knowledge that only a very small part of them will be visible...

Looks like very fine cutting to create the forward railing.
Interesting that the forward cables/rigging go through the roof of the pilot house.
That is correct as shown on the cover (first image Sep 27).

Some more progress on the A.A., the end is nearing with all the railings done (they will receive a second coating of paint though), and even though I am not al too satisfied it will have to do...

To be continued...
