IJN Hiei

Welcome everyone!
Ever since I joined this community, I have been fascinated by the work and creativity of the designers. I was particularly impressed by Lou Coatney's designs. I appreciated his 1:1200 scale models as a real challenge. Let's see if my knife breaks into it, as they say here in Hungary. The first of the downloads I started building the plans for IJN Hiei and IJN Kirishima.458 / 5
The first of the downloads I started building the plans for IJN Hiei and IJN Kirishima.
During construction, I felt that there was more to these designs. At least enough to reach the level of a plastic model. It didn't turn out really perfect, since my first attempts like this, I didn't even have usable plans, I only worked based on photos. First pieces, they will be as they are. The first picture is IJN Kirishima half finished. The rest are IJN Hiei so you can see why I wanted to convert it. Well, that's how IJN Hiei became. I like it that way, but I can already see that the tower needs to be rebuilt, but based on appropriate plans. Because it became ad hoc. Receive it with love and understanding!
Big Thanks to Lou Coatney for the designs! I hope I don't offend you by thinking about it again. I can't plan :-)

I am impressed with your 1/1200 Japanese battleships.

Is the KG V the Revell model?

Welcome!
Thank you for the appreciation! Yes, Revell model, you saw it right. I just put them next to each other because of the contrast, in reality they never fought each other. With the USS Missouri, there would have been a better chance of meeting :-) . It is also a Revell model. But I'm also going to build the KG V and Rodney and Prince of Wales ships based on Lou Coatney's plans. Also "supercharged". It's all a matter of magnifying glass :-) I am 60 years old.

Kongos like Hiei and Kirishima vs.KGVs like Prince of Wales

Well, maybe KGV class Prince of Wales (with its defective 14" gun turrets) and Kongo class Kongo or Haruna could have matched up, if some Japanese Indochina-based torpedo bombers hadn't gotten in the way in the South China Sea on 10Dec41, A.

Nice work!

Note that on Free Cardstock Paper Model World War 2/II Warships there are also free plans of the KGVs - I don't like the Miniships/ESCI/Revell KGV gun turrets and I foolishly thought designing the class would be no big time-consuming deal - as well as 8 1:1200 Shiratsuyu class destroyers for you to make a balanced IJN task force. I've pretty well finished designing a 3x2 5" gun Japanese fleet destroyer class too.

And here are the 7 Tribal class British and 1 JKN British class Polish Piorun at 1:1200 which were involved hunting down Bismarck. (Hmm ... I should do a sheet of the British JKNs, although Mountbatten's HMS Kelly had a flagship superstructure variation.) http://www.coatneyhistory.com/Bismar...troyersJPG.jpg

You're just a kid at 60. I'm 75 already, so you might want to download any plans of mine you want while my webpage is still up.
