Thank you very much, friends
Kilroy1988: no, there are not strips of cartoon, although it is one of possibilities. I covered the hull by stripes of foils, by the same way as Doris or radek ( Rdk ) and then patinated it by anilin water colours to achieve the planking effect. And I think it looks very good. BTW, I built the San Salvador also, the build is here: SAN SALVADOR 1543 /free + firdajan2/ 1:96 photo documentary (finished) Jan |

Thank you, Jan! I understand the process now and really appreciate your build log for the San Salvador, I will refer to it during my own work - it will be my second ship after a modern minesweeper I am currently crafting, so a very different kind of subject matter.
I have failed to find out exactly what kind of product you are using when you refer to "self-adhesive foil." Can you share a link to such a thing? Thank you! -Gregory |

I´m using d-c-fix foils, it´s a classic wallpaper.

Hello Jan,
Thanks for sharing the product information. I see what you use now and it seems very sensible! Do you start with foils that are already made to mimic the look of wood, or do you apply the watercolors to white foil to make the wood effect entirely on your own? -Gregory |

Hi Gregory,
Both of them. I´m using foils with a rougher surface in +/- cherry colour and then I´m patinating them with dark brown anilin water colour. At the end I´m using colourless matt varnish. Jan |
