I like the eye on this vessel. Reminds me of the trireme.

Excellent job! Looked the submarine up on Wikipedia and was interested to see it only carried two torpedoes. Was later converted to a mine-layer. Crewed by a captain and 13 sailors.

I’m not really a claustrophobe but I think being trapped in that boat would make me one.

Hi Dan, hi guys,

that boat looks realy great! Good work!

The Austrian-hungarian Navy had five boats of that type in service during WWI.
They were buildt in germany and delivered by railroad to Pola/Pula, each split into three sections.
In Pola the Sections were set together and afther trials the boats were send out to war.

I buildt them in 1:250 scale as waterline models.

Greetings

Wiwo

Thank you, Bob, dhanners and Wiwo!
I do like how it's coming along.

Wiwo: Thanks for those great model pictures. I should ask you...which flag or what type should I add to this sub? All the things I see say it was German navy so I assumed such a flag but if it was Austrian, I need to rethink my plans!

Anyway...more soon and thanks for looking and commenting.

Dan

Hello Dan,

the submarine of the kit is an imperial german boat.
So it is the german imperial navy-flag to hoist.

If you are looking for a flag, you can find some at Daves card creeations, see HERE

Scroll down to "Model Accessores" and at "Free Flags and Pennants" you will find some awsome.

I plan to repaint the cardmodel to austrian colours an build he boat later this year.

Greetings

Wiwo

Much appreciated and I look forward to your build.

Got the railings on. Looks pretty darn slick. Each thing I add makes it look that much cooler....Dan

Ok the railings help me visualize how much more claustrophobic sailing in this thing would be...

Still looks great. Would love to see it next to a Type VII of same scale for comparison.

Thanks, Ray and Greg!

When it's all done, I do have a shot of it next to another, larger sub in the same scale. Just wait until you see it!

It's so close now. I made a flag, added two crewmen (one servicing the forward Maxim and one at the conning tower and got it fully rigged (I think). I don't know what those blobs are running on the top rigging (some are just on top of the forward crewman). They are drips of glue and when they dry, I'll paint them but I'm not sure if they are insulators or pulleys or...??? If anyone knows, let me know!

Really only needs some pastel weathering and I'll call her done.

Final post tomorrow...Dan
