Thank you for your comments gentlemen.
Meanwhile I have been working on a few more details for the ship. Today I started with step 12, making the capstan: I forgot to take a picture of the finished step, but you will see the capstan in the last picture of today's progress. In step 13 we need to make 4 fire reels : An the final step for today was number 15, two cranes : Today's work in one picture : To be continued... |

And there is a little bit of progress to report :
The "floating" deck is just resting on the supports in dry-fit because I want to add the railings before fixing the deck. The railings are lasercut light cardboard. To be continued... |

After several attempts at shaping and placing one of the hamemade lasercut railings on the floating bridgedech without success, I decided to try something else.
Instead of designing a 2D lasercut railing, I tried to do it in 3D for a resin printer, using the PDF as a canvas in Fusion360 : It took over 4 hours to print and probably another hour to carefully remove the hundreds of supportbeams but finally I succeeded in releasing the railing from it's "sprue" with "minimal damage" (ok, it broke in half but I'll glue them back together). Very interesting. I have not seen railing from a 3D resin printer before this.
Has anyone else given this a try? |
