That's the kind of effort that produces an extraordinary model.

Herky: I used the frames from the Canon model as templates, but had to change a lot on them to get the desired shape, somehow, of the hull. Shape of the stern part of the hull is very difficult.

Hello all, discovered a very big mistake in my Hikawa Maru model. The Canon model of Hikawa Maru, is one big error, hull is much to high and the proportions, are not right. Today I trashed the stern part of my model, about 20 cm of the hull, but by measuring the ship from my Yard drawings I have, for making a new stern part, I discovered the error, so I will try to save all the decks I made, with all the planking I did, and I think I will start all over. My research this time was not good enough, so back to the drawing board. I will let you know what I will decide.

Big disappointment, I did some more measurements on the Canon model and my official yard drawings, and it is a really disaster, so I trashed the whole model, this time I did a very bad research, I trusted the Canon model too much, now it is back to the drawing board !

Well...I will start all over again, a friend of mine is making a 3D hull from my re-drawn official plans and extract a frame plan from this model, as soon as I have it I will re-start my Hikawa Maru building !

Hi Guys,

Before I start my next attempt on building my "Hikawa Maru" model, I like to trow a question into the forum. Does anyone know what these symbols in the shell paint drawing means, and does anyone have a list of symbols used in shell plating drawings ???
