This is the message I got from the NHHC:

"The NHHC Archives is currently closed to all researchers as we undergo a move to our new facility. We regret that we will be unable to provide any reference services during this time. A reopening date is still to be determined; please check back here for updates."

I have the plans for the USS Kerarsarge. some time ago I sent an email asking if they had an online store for plans and they do not. To purchase the documentation you have to go in person and buy a scanned copy. Not everything is online and free. The best is only there to see in person. Too bad :(
