off the starting gate
cut out the cener spine and all the formers
started with dryfitting to see if they look allright mostly it seems so the spine has separated at the stern so i will have to re-glue it again will tack it to a throwaway copy of the display to restart dryfitting an finally glue them into place /Håkan

heading for Cat-astrophy
made the buildplate and tacked the skeleton to it
unfortunately Simba the cat wanted to see what was going on luckily he is the kind sort of cat who is just curious - but you never know

Put some weights on the plate quickly and leave it for 24 hours to flatten then glue it to something stiff

hi Barry
should have done it yesterday i noticed, it was abit warped this morning so i gotta look for something more stiffer than what i have now think i will get some wood to glue the display to, that will be stiff enough

I don't know the printer you are using my friend, i use an Epson SX100.. nothing special about it what-so-ever, but the software allows for several printout techniques - If all else fails, go for POSTER PRINT option {if you have that}, it's a primitive way of up-scaling, but it works... unfortunately using that method decreases output quality, so if you can - upscale using the other methods you have with your software. When you go BIG scale, try different levels of colour enhancement and DPI to highest so you don't lose too much quality on the graphics {not too much boost on the colour because you will lose the true colour of the part you are trying to print}. Hope that helps

hi Peter, after looking into the settings of the printer, i now know that i can increase the size of the document up to 400%, now i just have to figure out how to get the printer to print it over several pages :/
going to get some wooden plate tomorrow to use as foundation for the build and continue with it

Software for printers have different ways of doing the same job, have a look in document/page settings you may find the setup you need there - if the software allows a PREVIEW go for that too so you can see each sheet individually before it gets sent to the printer...Saves unexpected results :(
If you are having problems with keeping things Straight and flat with the model you are making, try getting a piece of flat timber - make a mark for the BOW and one for the STERN - Put the spine in-line with these two marks and pin it all down. Place the formers in one by one and when you are happy that they are all correctly positioned, spot glue them at first. Don't remove anything from the wood yet... When the spot gluing has set, then you can put more glue to all the joints and leave it all to set over night. You can take it off the wood then if you wish, but it's a good idea to at least get the decks on and all dried out before removing it from the wood, this way you can then finish it off with the knowledge that it's all STRAIGHT and FLAT. You can display it where you like then and not tied to one visual effect. Barry's the guy to ask about all of this because he's THE man If you do go for up-scale, you will certainly need to do what i suggested above, but even MORESO.. the bigger the harder to keep straight and flat... Good luck my friend |

tread on...
found this at the building store, don't know what it is called but it seems lke a crossing between pressed paper and pressed wooden fibres
used tacks to fasten the bottom plate to it and refitted the formers again will glue them on soon /Håkan
