USS Alaska & USS California
Just finished minus a few details and the King Fisher aircraft these two old but very well manually designed Fly models USS Alaska and USS California.
Both models are based on the beautiful U.S. Navy 1944 dazzle camouflage schemes. I built these side by side because both were drawn in 1998 and 1997 respectively and all of the small details and secondary guns were designed identically. Surprisingly the older California model is better colored. The sun had just crossed the horizon so I rushed some pics presented here. Once I have some more time and build the ships planes I will take more pictures. I purchased the planes from Trumpeter, you 4 in a kit for about $10 so can't go wrong and the planes printed for the kit are really bad. I used CNC barrels for California while I modeled and 3D printed the 12 inch and 5 inch barrels for Alaska. |

Two magnificent models!
I agree that the 1944 dazzle schemes made for good-looking ships. Alaska and Guam were, to my eye, two of the most beautiful warships ever built for the U.S. Navy, and rebuilt broad-beamed California was also a classy -looking battleship. Thanks for sharing these images. Don |

They're beauties, but they sure take up a lot of space!
1:200 I'm guessing? All my best... P-lite |
