JSC Mauretania 1/400

Starting the 1909 version of the Mauretania. You may also see some of the 1918 troop transport livery that has been on my build shelf for some time. It remains unfinished as some of the parts have been damaged and are not repairable. My intention is to use extra parts from this new build to help finish my first attempt.

Quite a change of pace!

Looks great so far.

What kinds of spare parts will be applicable to the old build?

Thanks for checking in Don,

There are dedicated parts for the life boats and other details (AA guns) for the troop carrier in its livery in this kit. None of them are used on this earlier version, therefore they are now replacement parts.

I share the Colonel’s surprise at seeing you take on a ship project. Though I must say, that troop transport livery is striking. And the Mauritania’s red and white is classic as well. Have you built ships before?

Parts 18 - 20. Hull plating. Had to do a little bit of trimming here and there. I cut the stern name loose from each side and repositioned them so they were cohesive and did not overlap.

Looking forward to your construction.
I really like the hospital ship version (along with the Britannic)!
One of these days (maybe).

Picture 1 parts 24 - 26.

Picture 2 parts 27 - 31.

Fit was OK, though a little vague in places.

Looks like I had similar experience with the troop ship version back in the day.

Isn't that an effect of not having a base plate in JSC models? I always use as the waterline base a good cardboard base.
