Nice work Marco.
Even at 1:250 scale, a large model.

Thanks! It's indeed a sizeable project - always the question where I'll be able to display the end result!

For those interested, a nice documentary about the 1907 ship drawings of the Mauretania:

One question, is there a free version of the Lusitania? I think that this ship is as important and historical as the other four funnels ships of that era.

The Canberra is fun to build, well recommended!

I don't know of any paper models of the Lusitania, only a 1/350 plastic model. Ralph Currell has the Olympic and Britannic available for download, but the Lusitania would seem to be rare.

RMS Mauretania was built for speed, and the hull shape shows it. Now that the main shape of the hull is in place, I will continue with the superstructure.

Just to be clear, this is the first Mauretania, built in 1906, that held the Blue Ribband, and not the second built in 1935?
Yes, the hull profile is more like a fast cruiser than a liner. Plus the fitting of four screws. In fact the original designs made provision for conversion to both a troopship and an auxilliary cruiser with 6-inch guns.

Yes, it's the 1906 four-funnel first Mauretania.

Continuing with the superstructure. I've made the pilars from 1mm plastic rod. To get the as straight as possible I've drilled holes in the deck to extend them through.

Another smart move. I've lost count of the frustrated attempts to get thin upright parts to just stick upright on a surface. Always much better to add extra legnth and insert them into a slot or hole.
