SS Normandie - 1:400 - JSC
After the SS United States, I will be building another Blue Riband holder: the SS Normandie in scale 1:400 from JSC. At the start of her career both the largest and fastest passenger liner in the world, with a very modern design for her time.
Building this kit is a little redemption for me, after a failed build of the same in 2012. I was working in a tropical location at the time, and the high humidity warped the model so much while building the main hull that I had to abandon it. So here it goes again, but at home. It's the usual JSC design, with a very light frame around a triangular central beam. And I will be extra cautious to keep everything straight and aligned.

Some interesting design features: the anchor chains and bollards were inside the bow, and the stern had several stepped decks with broad staircases.

Wonderful subject Marco. Good progress out of the gate.
The multi-tiered aft decks are a nice feature of this design. Looking forward to your progress updates on this one.

Thanks! It is a kit with a few issues though - it is impossible to make the stern hull plates fit as-is, and a bit of paint- and putty-work is necessary.

Lemons into lemonade my friend well done. These hull fit ups can often be problematic. Improv is the best remedy.
You have a good helper there, by the way. Mine would utterly destroy by entire work bench. LOL.

I have had this in my to be built stash for years. Really excited to see how beautifully it's coming together.

Thanks! My personal assistant usually doesn't interfere, but when he thinks it's time for attention and/or snacks he sure lets me know.
The sleek bow is also a bit of a challenge. At least I'm further along now than I was in 2012, and faster too.
