Stevo and D-H, the QE2 has been in Dubai since November 2008, being converted into a hotel. See here QE2 Home Page couple of photos on there showing size difference between QE2, QM2 and QV. QE2 is tiny compaired with the other 2 ships.

Thanks Paul, I thought I had got away with that! I think I meant the Queen Elizabeth/Victoria/Mary 2. (Why not call her the QE2-2??)
Interestingly Wikipedia says the Victoria "... is not an ocean liner as she does not have the heavy plating, high freeboard and propulsion system of a liner but is outfitted as a cruise ship.". D A bit of a put down. The Queen Elizabeth steamed (?) up the north east coast recently. |

Don't get to see many ships where I live. Bit far inland.

The ship is so big I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up with gangs and a ghetto section, where all the forgotten passengers will end up in. I would sure hate to be in control of the sewage tanks. They probably dump them out at sea. A floating pollution palace. These boats really take the heart out of cruising on the ocean. It's really fugly.

I think it was the QM2. =X
It's a long distance across the harbour from the school. With the naked eye, I could make out the beginning of Que... and a II. Having 20/20 hindsight. I should have posted a webcam link. =X |

I always wonder how they get to evacuate 5000+ persons off board if anything happens. They all have to descend through stairways (no using elevators!) down to the boats through 5 or 6 stairways in 30 minutes, as I believe is the cerification rule. One person stumbling and nobody will get out. Hm.
