Hello Carl,
Regarding the two types of ladders ………….
I suspect some would like the more detailed version,
And many would like the simpler version.
I trust the judgment of the designer on this one.
Nice work on both.

I like that idea, similar to some of the Model Art kits.

Nothing really special. These are the ladders installed into the decks. I don't know that individual treads add much but sometimes it is just knowing that they are there that makes it worth it for me.

I've actually spent most of the day making funnel assemblies and remodeling them. More on that whole event later.

Carl,
Details like that are signs of a true Master at work.
I confess that most likely I would start the model with the intention to skip those ladders at then do them anyway or risk this gnawing feeling that the model is somehow incomplete...

Carl,
I have always liked having both to choose from. Since the ladders are below deck I may choose the easier one over the more detailed. Then I may not, depending how I feel that day.

Very impressive work as always. I just don't see how you can design and build at the same time, and be so neat about it.

Thanks,
Dennis

Hello Carl,
It is a bit unusual to have the color of a deck get much attention but once again, that image shows the remarkable shade of that color. It forms a great platform to feature your work. And one can see those ladders discussed earlier coming up nicely from below decks. No disappointments here. As long as you design & build, I’ll watch.

Hi, Carl;

I always enjoy reading your build threads, partially because of the level of craftsmanship and imagination you bring to your work, and also because I learn so much. This ship is especially interesting, and you are doing a great job with her.

Can't say as I like the subject too much (no wings) but it truly is a well designed and built model on every level.

Hey, Dennis! Actually you have multiple choices for the ladders:

- Don't do anything - just leave the artwork on the deck! It is nice artwork and I did this on Inflexible if you look at the photos there. Very simple solution.
- Put on the tread block by itself, or with sides that you cut the railings off.
- Do tread block at railings, don't cut out railings (like in the photo above)
- Detail the whole thing.

Michael, unfortunately the deck color in the photos is not quite right. It isn't that orange and it is darker.

Thank you both, Thomas, and Will! Will, in many ways I prefer to build aircraft rather than ships. However, I have had a longstanding and deep love for the pre dreadnought ships of the French navy and am compelled to model them for myself.

...and back to the model. The good news is that the funnels fit together perfectly on the first try. THe bad news is that the upper ring has the seam on the front and I want it to be on the back. Plus, I don't need the lines on the lower funnel sheath.

I'm showing the passarelles walls sides as cut out rather than with art work here. Once again, not necessary detailing but available. The edging around the deck probably is necessary but it really is not difficult to do neatly. Tedious maybe but not difficult.

I'm beginning to populate the spar deck with detail... still must rebuild the funnels though.
