Wow - This is astounding! Someday I hope to be nearly as good, but you have set the bar very high!

This is museum-quality work.

Doris,

Your model would be stunning even if it were wood or plastic, but the fact that it is a card model makes it, in my mind, doubly impressive. Congratulations!

Hello dear friends!
I am very grateful of your comments and approbations, I revere your words a lot! That´s the most beautiful reward for me and I am very honored.
THANK YOU very much for your comments and congratulations!
I would like to take next photos outdoors and add them here for you. The weather is very windy in our country these days, but I hope it will be better during the weekend.
The instruction how I make gilded figures and decorations I will describe in detail during my next project – Sovereign of the seas. There will be a lot of gilded figures so I´ll try to take many pictures during their forming. It´s difficult to describe universally, but here you can see how the formed figures look during the process:
Before baking – figures are shaped under cold water by tweezers and then placed onto special non adhesive paper:
After baking:
After painting by gold acrylic color:

Today I took new pictures outdoors. It was a bit difficult, because it was windy, but finally I managed it and Victory kept fine. So enjoy the photos:

Doris...H.M.S. Victory looks fantastic. I have always wanted a ship of the line to grace a shelf in my place, but don't have the skills to come close to your quality of work.

Well done.

Wow Doris,
You put my efforts to shame and I thought I was clever. I must admit that I could not produce a model in card as nice and neat and detailed as your one. There is a wood model for sale in Aussie, last time I looked, for A$1,000 and even that, is not a patch on your model.
What scale are you building HMS Victory at, 1/96? is this a kit from a card kit, or is it scratch built, off plans.
I am an Australian living in Australia.
A beautiful, beautiful model, Doris - well done. I will watch this thread with much interest in the time ahead, to watch how your model grows

Hi Doris,
What is the name of the maker of the Gold paint you use?
Will the paint tarnish in time, or will it retain its colour?

Hello friends!

Thank you very much for your comments. I am very honored!

My Victory comes from Shipyard´s card model, but a lot of her parts I had to change and adapt, because I built Victory in her original look from 1778-1798. And there are added a lot of parts and details by my own as well. The scale is 1:96. For gilded figures I used Motip acrylic paint in spray, its gold color doesn´t change in time, it is suitable also for outdoors. I even used this paint for some engine parts in my car and after years it still looks like new.
