Hi Doris,
I am in awe over your Victory model. I have this kit and would love to build it in but I have never built a card stock model ship before. I have built wooden model ships for over 20 years and have a small business called Lauck Street Shipyard. I have some questions. Where can I purchase the self adhesive foil with the wood grain look and color? Where can I purchase 1mm and 2mm cardstock and other blank cardstock needed to build this kit? How do you create the carvings out of paper? I've done some sculpting for my wooden model ships using clay but never paper and would love to learn this technique. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks, Bob Hunt |

Bob: I could not help but visit your website: "Lauck Street Shipyard". Excellent! You have some very fine and beautiful wood ships there. Regards, Mike |

Absolutely breathtaking, Doris!
Are those actual models of furniture, etc. in the stern cabin, or is it an image? The realism just blows me away. Terry |

1mm and 2mm cardstock and other thicknesses in a range of sheet sizes can be picked up from art and craft supply shops, specialist stationery supply shops and also many printshops also sell a range of paer and card stocks in varying weights and sheet sizes...down here Warehouse Stationery has A2 size sheets of 1mm cardstock for NZ$5...

Bob:
There are literally hundreds of sources for cardstock in nearly every color of the rainbow, and white, for those printable kits. All you have to do is search the net for "Card Stock" and you'll see hundreds, if not thousands of hits. A few that I have bought from in the past are (in no particular order): Paper-Papers The PaperMill Store Dick Blick Art Supplies Paper Works I've also had pretty good luck on eBay finding chipboard, Excel No2 and No11 cutting blades, miscellaneous tools, and all sorts of other things. If you have Scrapbooking stores in your hometown, they're a wonderful source for cardstock and other heavier papers. Michaels, Hobby Lobby are just two of the kinds of stores you could go to for craft supplies. |

Thanks for your comments (Michael) and the help on card stock. I went to a local craft store yesterday and found 1mm mat board in white, works great so now I'm on my way and have begun cutting out parts.
I'm very anxious to learn the techniques that Doris used to create the carvings on her Victory. Hope she can shed some light on that subject because it is those carvings that really show off the beauty of the ship. Take care, Bob |

bob on page twenty she mentions a way she makes the figures for the soverign of the sea. I would think it is the exact same she used on Hms Victory. and the type of paint which what i figure is the same that most motor factors have for painting wheel rims.
