ST:Enterprise hypersonic orbiting space plane

This still image is from a six second cgi sequence in the Star Trek: Enterprise intro at about the 1:03 mark. You can see the whole intro at the link below.

Might this be another Enterprise before the ST:Enterprise tv series? I've done a bit of looking around and have not been able to find any information on this space plane. I've joined several Star Trek forums and put out inquiries about it.

This might be a good challenge for some paper modeler out there to make if they can find the info first or just get creative and use what little info is presented and create their own paper interpretation.

There's a Venture Star model on John Leslie's site. Not the same thing but a predecessor. It would be a good start anyway. As for it being and Enterprise, I've never found anything online to support that but, Why Not! It would make sense for there to be something between the suttle and the NX-01.

I found out that Doug Drexler and his team were the ones who came up with the design. He does have a blog called the Drex Files and talks about everything Star Trek he has worked on in the past and also current projects.

It might give some paper modelers out there some ideas for new projects.

I did some searching around and found out that this vehicle is designated as the OV-165. I found the reference here.

OV-165 was an orbital vehicle, a type of space shuttle used by the inhabitants of Earth in the first half of the 21st century. (Star Trek: Enterprise title sequence)

Background

This ship is seen in the opening titles of Star Trek: Enterprise. This shuttle is seen as Linda Park's credit plays, right after the International Space Station (a 1990s concept), and prior to a scene of the Phoenix in 2063. While no name or agency's logo were seen on the ship, the number follows the registry system used by NASA for the modern day space shuttle orbiters used by the United States of America, a system that began with Challenger OV-099 and Enterprise OV-101.

I found a ST website where some one posted their own CG rendering of the same vehicle although they mistakenly labeled it as the "Phoenix" at the following link.

I forgot to mention that one of the other guys that helped to design this vehicle is named John Eaves who worked on the same team as Doug Drexler. He has a great blog just like Mr. Drexler's in which he documents the ST projects he has worked on in the past. It's another great site for inspiration for ST paper modelers.
