Pixia is a good tool for those with photoshop.
Anything with graphics tablet input is good for colouring in, and you really do need a tablet. paint shop pro and such are good for lines and boxes with a mouse. |

I actually use a few programs. Let me start by saying what angle I come from and why I bounce between progs... I used to do alot of line art for screened t-shirts back in the day so I was familiar with doing everything by hand. To me I need to feel the art to be comfortable. Vector doesn't give me the spontinaity I need to flow with art. Just can't seem to get the feel for it. So for basic layout I use either Gimp or MS paint for speed...For layering...u guessed it...good ole MS Pictureit! I save to png for lossless transfer...import into Vector Magic for auto vectorization from raster. For vignet fades in large areas I import svg's in Inkscape...But most of my tight fades are done in raster and layered....The only computer generated assistance I want normally in my work is scalabilily in vector, smoothing in Vector Magic, layering and transparancy.
For me, art died when everbody went out and bought a copied photo and stuck it in a frame and called it a masterpiece...vector has it's place..I use it too but it's not art...it is however a good tool for illustration. Everyone's got their own way Art Last edited by Airliner Art; 05-20-2011 at 03:55 PM. |

iPad Procreate
I currently use an iPad Pro and Procreate for my recolouring... it’s pretty staring forward and allows an easy way to import photos etc as reference. Anyone else doing any work on an iPad?
