Sounds good. I used to do all mine using paint shop pro 9 because it will import PDF files, however, I found it didn't import some of the latest PDF files properly. That knife tool sound good.

If anyone is interested in a little app that allows you to easily work between scale and actual dimensions (in units from millimetres to miles!) then I can recommend Frank Crenshaw's Scalecalc. Very useful.

Many programs also allow "poster" printing which will break up an oversized print to fit on smaller paper. Of course, you hope there's no distortion, the edges line up, and you can piece the parts back together (joiner strips on the back side ...).

Hi I use Gimp 2 it imports pdf and you can re scale up and down with no problem although the instructions are a bit vague. It's also free.

I wouldn't "get rid" of Acrobat, as in remove it from your system. That might cause your computer to get upset.

Just don't use it for this purpose and let it sit in the background waiting for a task.

I know this may sound kinda' silly, but it's not that big a deal to let it just exist on your system.
