Free Adobe Creative Suite CS2!

Hi everyone,

I was looking to find an older 'legal' copy of Photoshop and Illustrator for use business wise. Get this...Adobe is giving away the CS2 line of products! Admittedly they're 7 years old or so but hey, they work, are legal and FREE!
For what we do I think they are perfect! Right now I have them both coming down for a total of almost 1Gb of data. In 15 minutes I'll let you know if there's a catch other than signing up for a Adobe account. My apologies if this was posted elsewhere...I'm just excited!

There is a catch, but to what extent would it be enforced? I wouldn't know. And then, are the serial numbers going to be different for everyone...or are they the same ones for everyone who downloads?

A quote snippet of the agreement you need to click through before downloading:
"The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products."

I heard about this and downloaded Photoshop, Illustrator and the Full Adobe PDF maker a couple months ago. Its been working fine.

As far as I can tell, the same serial numbers are used for everyone. Technically this is supposed to be a work around set up by Adobe for those who purchased CS2. Adobe had some kinda server meltdown and could no longer support CS2 products any other way.

Try it out...I will show you mine if you will show me yours! (the serial number that is )
I'm almost positive that there will be no issues. I'm going to use it but please, don't take my opinion as truth

I heard about this offer back in December, but when I read about it...Adobe had pulled the download servers. Or so I thought. Maybe they never pulled them or just put them back up? Get it while its hot. haha!

I don't think there will be any issues, it should be a working copy (serial number). And thinking about it...the activation server is what has been discontinued, so I suppose that the serials wouldn't be verified anyhow. Unless someone wants an upgrade....dang you Adobe! haha!

I use CS 5.5 right now, so I have no use really for CS 2 other than on an old XP computer which is currently gathering dust right now.

If you do download the CS 2 set, I'd recommend also downloading the Adobe 7.0 Pro. In Wiki, it says there were two versions of CS 2, standard and pro...but which is available for download there? Just in case...the Pro version of the Adobe will come in handy for anyone who wishes to use those features.

As per the serial question I posed a little bit ago....it remained the same to me when I signed into my second Adobe account.

Its quite an old version...quite out of date by Adobe standards.
The free giveaway is an effort to sidetrack some of the piracy and
give people a chance to trial Adobe products
and a reason to consider purchasing a legit newer version.

This has been done before by other companies and it sometimes works.

However...the learning curve for Adobe is steeper
and lot of people have difficulty switching to Photoshop and other Adobe softwares.
(Thats the problem I had with Photoshop...I personally found Corel easier to navigate)
I think thats why you hear a lot of bitching and suggestions for Gimp and other free programs.

I also notice a TON of complaints surrounding unpacking and installing of the files
in this free download. Not sure whats going on there.
