Problem in Meta

I tend avoiding posting threads, but I can't get around this problem without some help. When I re-installed Meta [Ver 2.4], [I had to since my computer went through restoration] I can no longer click, drag, and select. I've downloaded the current version as of today, but I still can't select manually! It's a really big problem when I'm mirroring and moving separate objects.

Has anyone else ran into this problem? If so, I could use some direction.

Thanks

Just a guess, but have you tried to update your mouse driver?

Truth be told, I'm not sure what you're talking about. But when my brother gets back from practice I'll be sure to ask.

I've been experiencing this problem before, every time I re-install Meta in fact. I mess around with the options and somehow it comes back. However, it seems that method does not work anymore.

The mouse driver is software installed on your computer that controls your mouse. Since it is a click and drag issue, I assume it is possibly a mouse software issue.
P.S. didn't you design the snake in a box? Love that model!!!

Uh...Yeah, my mouse driver's been updated. I still don't see what the problem is! I've been re-installing it for the past hour! *Rips hair out* But hey, thanks for the input Phil, way to make a newbie more welcome

- Nope, sorry, not me. His talents are way beyond my own.
P.S. I don't think the designer's name was orange, I think it's just a texture from SSBB, which it also says orange... somewhere...

Just a thought - you say you 'restored' the system (guessing PC?) By which I assume you used the operating systems restore point method. Thus killing off a lot of installed files & updates...

I don't use Metasequoia but I believe you will need to ensure the C++ dll's (runtime components) are on the system. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86)
There are also other C++ redist packs on the MS site e.g. VC++ 2008, x64 variants & Visual Basic dll's etc.

It shouldn't hurt to install any of these packs - even if you don't use them directly. They are all core components (often generically called by progs) for Win based software.

Another possibilty is the video driver - esp if the prog uses a 'hardware' cursor system.

Just some ideas....

Yeah I know I spend waaaay too much time working on PCs that could be spent cutting paper!

Probably something you've already done - did you open the object panel and make sure the object(s) aren't locked?

Good gosh! Thank you guys for the help, I really, really appreciate it.
Medved: Thanks for the very specific suggestions
TheWebdude: Yeah, the objects aren't locked

I finally found the solution to my problem! I was playing around with the interface, and I directed my attention to the Edit Options. I personally forget about it everytime! I didn't select Rope selection, or Rectangular selection. So that's why I couldn't click and drag! I'll have to remember that when my computer breaks down again

Thanks for the help guys!
