old inkscape to new inkscape file conversion?
Which option to use when opening with Inkscape 1.1 svg files created with Inkcape 0.91?
I picked the first option (for display) in the dialog but I feel like I should have chosen the second one (for printing) as the drawing appears smaller and the page is indeed resized slightly smaller than A4 format.

Yes, that's how I noticed the size issue.

Carlos,
I pick the second option for accuracy. I haven't had any problems, except some issues with fonts. Thanks, Gary

Because images intended for screen use only (e.g., exported to PNG) will usually be automatically rescaled at display, the first choice is usually correct. However since we deal with printers, you must use the second option. Last edited by cfuruti; 02-25-2022 at 05:00 PM. Reason: Fixed ambiguity |

Why not use the second one all the time automatically? According to the FAQ (FAQ | Inkscape) it's error-prone; I guess scaling in cascade across nested layers, groups and subgroups, including lengths and thicknesses, might trigger precision issues. Conclusion: use the second choice, first sub-option, which works fine for printing on paper. The second sub-option may be needed for 3D printers or cutters. |

Thank you guys. Second option first sub-option it is!
I got another surprise : surprise rotation of the canvas! Why would you do that and make so easy to activate??? Managed to solve it after some googling.
