Free program to enhance pictures
Good day fellow paper modelers, I download pictures from a South African Railway site to use as templates to scratch build loco's but the pic quality is very fuzzy due to the pic's having been taken approx 100 years ago. Do any members know of a free program that can enhance the definition of a picture.

The image is not "fuzzy' or low quality because it is 100 years old.
In fact, older photographs are often better than a lot of what is taken today. Especially because its film, and often larger format. The reason the photos are lower quality is usually because they have been digitized and reduced in quality for web use. You need to get your hands on the original photo, or a better scan of the original photo. Two things I do is: Try an Image search (a search based on the image you want) Google and Bing do this easily. Sometimes there are higher resolution versions of the same image out there on the internet. Suggested: Contact the owner/author/original poster of the photo and ask them for a better scan. You cannot fix what isn't there. If a photo does not have the detail you want, it can't be put there. Just like, in movies, you cannot zoom in on a photo and see more detail...you can't invent pixels that aren't there.
