You do and I'll have to come hunt you down and torture more info out of you. I have learned stuff I never knew because of your last 3 posts. The stated purpose of this thread is to increase the knowledge base and I wanted others to contribute. I felt like i was stagnating in my skills cause I haven't been learning anything new lately. Now i am. I am smart enough to at least to know that I don't know and willing to admit it. I thank you much Carl.

Z, I believe he is asking about using petals to model an ellipsoidal partial surface.

O.K. my Brain is about to explode. I was going to ask how this was done but I didn't know they were called 'petals".:o This thread is going into a .doc file so I can view it offline. Thanks, Carl, and Thanks for asking Alcides.

I generally use 5-6 and they will export with the file. I don't know photoshop but I would guess layers are pretty standard. I once posted a little thing on Z-place about how I layered the wing of my Super Corsair. I'll have to recreate it but if you are interested I will.
Must pay attention to this paragraph. BTW, I use DupEdge rather than DupBorder. If I had drawn a hatch with rivets and labeling onto the surface, I would have smashed it out at the same time.

Dang, wasn't going to add on.

Thanks to Will and all, this thread has some invaluable tips and is going in my archive. I think I'll throw mine as well so I don't just take and don't give.

In the spirit of Will's sweep 1 rail command, I found it helpful in dealing with particular surfaces when normal lofting didn't work out, as the loft command, with or without rebuild, doesn't give users direct control over which points connect the two curves being lofted. But using reference lines and then applying either sweep rail or surface from network of curves, the desired shape is formed which, if not already so, can then be rebuilded to have only 2 points in the v-direction, and unfolded. This helped a lot in my Ise project's hull

Thanks Lex I learned something new again. If the measure of a day is in how much you learn then this day has been good. On top of that I just got a job! I've been outa work for awhile and will be glad to get on with life again.

It's been a great day so far. Thanks
