2D Picture to 3D Model

Not sure if you've all seen this, but for the ones who haven't, there's a cool program that lets you create a 3D model from a string of 2D photographs. Not really meant for paper model designing (unfolding, converting...) but nonetheless, a pretty cool piece of software.

Personally, I think it's more fun to create a 3D model from scratch, but this program looks very pleasing for models that are solely meant for the computer rather than an actual model.

Wow... That's great!

Now, to get your 3D model from curved surfaces to flat pieces, all you need is Lamina.

The UAS company I do some work for occasionally are using these guys to turn 2D images from a UAS run into a 3d depiction of the shape of the ground and what's on it...their areoscan tool will do the same for images via the web...it's great technology and something that not so long ago would have been 'science fiction'...
