@ murphyaa: Bigger thoughts are usually better. :-)
@ jobeaux & ghshinn: I'm glad you like it. Dexterity is one thing but most importantly you must build slow - and think ahead what you're doing. For instance what to use and what to discard (I don't use all the tabs, I do some bends differently, I don't score at all etc.). I will go smaller after this - I'm practising on Flying Bathtub at a scale beyond 200 (printed on 12,5%). It takes couple of practise runs (not the hole model, but some parts) before I can show the result. :-) Last edited by Tapcho; 03-17-2010 at 12:54 PM. |

looking at that scale make me crybaby
my eyes let alone my hands would never allow me to go that small i would state it is 3 feet wide, but then i got very small feet :D

Couple of pictures of my next attempt. First one: can you spot the assembled fuselage and cut-out wings? Second one: I tried to mold the engine cowl and it just flew away - I printed the model 4 times so I have spare parts. :-)

Just curious. What brand of cutting matte do you use?

Here are the new parts in right scale (see previous post where I explained that I printed some of the parts in wrong scale). I think the difference is so big that it was worth correcting. On the left are the wrong sized parts (landing struts and windshield) that can be seen in previous photos and on the right are the new ones. I'll take new 'official entry photos' again and post them later today.
On the backround you can see what distracted me and prosponed finishing this one. In my opinion it is the all time best sci-fi gizmo - Catepillar P-5000 Power Loader from the movie Aliens! Two days work and I haven't got any further than that - one and a half limb. But I'll get it done eventually some day. |

This is it. Here are the 'official entry photos' of this little bugger. Braille scale Fly Baby from Fiddlers Green collection. Built as a stock version with no modifications and all parts used.
Photo 1: Pages and finished model on my cutting mat to give you dimensions. Photos 2-4: Walkaround. Photos 5 and 6: Scale impressions with my dime. I move on to other builds. |

You're right, it does look better with the correct scale! The comparison with the coin gives a good perspective. I didn't realize how small it was until I saw that.

Thank you Garland! Tailwheel is still a bit edgy but I'll let it be. :-)

The Fly Baby is such a lovely little aircraft, well-proportioned in every way.
And your big shot of the blue background with the flyspeck of a model in the middle of all that blue is just wonderful! - L. |
