American aircraft carrier

About a year ago I was building American carrier-based aircrafts at 1:250 scale as a test build and not yet finished the test build as is shown in the attached picture. Missing items that I need to complete are canopies and pilot seats except for the helicopter. After complete the test build I, of course, want to build an aircraft carrier at the same scale but the problem is that I am not familiar with the American aircraft carrier.

Does anybody know any book or internet site from which I can learn the details of American aircraft carrier, and also available kit?
As to kit, so far, I found USS Forrestal 1:250 as a candidate.

Sorry I don't know about any aircraft carrier reference but those planes are awesome! I would love to see a build report.

Wilhelmshaven has a 1:250 USS Nimitz (99 Euros) and a 1:250 USS Forrestal (99 Euros.) Fly Models/GOMIX had a 1:200 USS Saratoga but that is long out of print.

Thanks Will and Mig-23MLD for encouraging words that drive me to build an aircraft carrier
Ron, thank you for your information. I found USS NImitz at moduni.

Hello YuG. I buy the Saratoga Fly Model of a 1:200, is a former model and somewhat lacking in details, a friend of mine showed me Forrestal in Wilhelmshaven and if you search for information on the Internet I think you can improve a lot. If you want you can find information on the Forrestal to 1:250.

A greeting

chapuzas100

PD: Very impressive these aircraft.

There was a free american aircraft carrier on http://home.kimo.com.tw/yukiyuji/downl1.htm but the scale was 1:700 and the site no longer works.

Hi Yu-san, someday HMV may do a Nimitz, bur I have not seen anything on it lately. The old WMV is probably your best bet for now, but is not state of the art.

YuG

www.navy.mil is the US Navy's website.

There are lots of pictures of Aircraft Carriers with plenty of details. The only problem is that they are mostly Nimitz class carriers with the exception of the John F. Kennedy and the Kitty Hawk.

Books......... check out Amazon and eBay there are several books on carriers that are very in-expensive. On Deck did one on the Forrestal and Detail & Scale has done a couple on the Enterprise and the Independence (I beleve)

Also I have done some parts of the flight-deck in 1/72 and 1/48 scale for diorama bases. These could be re-scale and maybe of some use to you. Let me know and I'll send you the files.

Fantastic planes......... are they scratch built?

john

Hi Yu, I have Yukiyuji's Nimitz in 1:700. I can send you the plan if you like. Yuki is a friend of mine and he won't mind. I also know either GPM or Fly has a USS Enterprise, but it's a very old issue and shops might no longer have it. Cheers
