Frank, are you suggesting we do something similar to CM, or kartonmodelle-forum?

If the size is the (only) problem there would still be the possibility to split the archives using WinRAR.
In WinRAR you can input the preferred size of the archives, say 2500000 bytes per part. A 9.5MB pdf would then be split into 4 archives, 3 having a size of 2500000 bytes and a smaller one. The files (original name: test.pdf) would be names test.part1.rar, test.part2.rar etc. One more possibility would be to solve this issue as done on kartonbau.de - there the operators and moderators can upload bigger files and the downloads are stored in the downloads section. Therefore the files have to be sent to one of these 10 guys by mail if the size is more than 500kb. Cheers, Old Rutz

I go for the off-site option. Like the saying goes "don't put all your eggs on the same basket".

I had the problem that I had posted some pictures in an other modelrailroad-forum some time ago on a seperate server. NOW I wanted to read the old thread (mostly as I had not found quickly enough the pictures on my CDs and DVDs). And with much "fun" I had to notice, what they dissapeared, they were deleted on this server due to the "age"... So I would prefer the method like Kartonbau.de! |

Ok Folks
Now for the Interactive Part of the Show. Jason and I would like to know how we should handle the files section. Do we post them on a separate site, off site from here, similar to a Dog Pile or Tucows?
