Amending existing downloads

I have a question regarding how you go about amending existing downloads deisgned by another party. I have made changes to two models available in the downloads section and would like to upload the changes. However, I have attempted to contact the original designers to obtain their consent to load the changed model as I am not the original designer and have only tinkered with the model, but so far I have had no response. Would it still be in order to upload the designs without their consent? I have credited the original designer in the upload and only reflect me as tinkering with the design?

Advise in this regard needed please! I dont want to step on any designers toes.

Thanks

The short answer is (or at least should be) no.
Perhaps PM Rickstef to see if he can help with making contact with the designers.

Until you get permission from the original designer, best bet is to just sit on the models.

if the changes are separate from the original model then there is no problem with you uploading those changes

if they are changes to the model it self, then you will need get permission from the original designer

If you want to release a modified version of an existing model (by anyone other than you) you rally do need their explicit approval. If you can't get it because they refuse or you can't get in touch that really is the end of it...

Doesn't stop you posting pics of your completed unique and supurb take on the original model though.. Who knows the original creator may stumble upon it and get in touch.

Just for the record, any improvements on my models in this download section are always welcomed!

mine, too. I normally post white models of mine for others to color. I would like to see these re-colors of my models, either here or on the Landships2 forum. The more the merrier. The only restriction I put on this is that there be no commercial publication.
