Many times, less translates into "more"... If your opinion is strong enough to make a comment (constructive criticism), you'll likely express your criticism constructively so all here can benefit. A simple "like" option adds little. If a member notices a thread and "checks it out" by viewing the thread, they have already "liked" it all they are going to.

"i think papercraft and paper models and cardmodels should be all free!!

Hey genius, how many paper models do you think would be available for your wormy a$$ if everybody had to pay 2 cents for each? there are already hundreds of models available for free, yet the best of the craft require a modest payment. please go crawl back under the rock you came from. (wink, wink).

@ alcides.... case in point, my first response was that I "like" your idea. I still do, yet I have doubts. I actually edited my first response because I felt it was not "constructive" enough, which only proves my point (at least to me). Agreeing to disagree is one of the best aspects of this forum. I'm just trying to weigh the positive aspects against the possible negative aspects and supporting a forum that is open-minded for all.
Maybe it would be best if someone "likes" the model in question, they should be required to say something about it?

There are times at which an undeniably well made and beautiful model will be posted on the Forum and slip into the Archives with few or no comments.
This may happen because few members are interested in the particular subject, or it may be the result of a lot of traffic on other subjects simply pushing it out of the forum before many people even get to see it. I often miss posts simply because I do not log on every single day. A "like" button, while attractive in some ways, would not solve that problem. The current system, though imperfect, is okay with me. I just hope that nobody gets discouraged just because their Magnum Opus does not get a lot of comment. It has happened to me and I have seen it happen to others. It is a reminder that we don't build paper models for the sole purpose of garnering praise from others. |
