How would you propose tracking all the downloads?
How do you propose we contact all of those who have downloaded files? Are you going to help us trying to implement this?

ok just an idea but there was a call for this type of thing and im not sure there is then in downloads you guys know how many times each model is downloaded.pick say the top 3 models by download in each catergory to give you a shortlist.put up a poll for each catergory with these in and let everyone vote.dual purpose of this would be to alert new members to type of things availible in download sections

A new download could become a POTW, but you need a decent picture of it to do it, I agree with Rick it would take a lot of work to keep track of this.
As the POTW editor, I'm always open for suggestions, heads up, bribes and decent proposals  I always try to be as versatile as possible: a new release, different subjects and different skill-levels,so if it's good, it can be a POTW, and a POTY

How about if you are somehow impressed by a member or that member's work,
or appreciate that member's specific contribution to the forum or the hobby in general... you let them know. Say something in their thread...send them a PM...write them an email. Sometimes a pat on the back can go a lot further than anything else. If you like a model that has been uploaded to the Downloads area, then build it, post a thread about it and give the designer a pat on the back. "Best Model uploaded to the Downloads"...in your opinion. "Most downloads of free models in the Download area" "Best download of free downloads in the download area" "Most best free things in the free best things area for free" "Gee I only like Free stuff Award" This is silly.
