New Posts not all there

This is a problem here, that I have experienced on other vBulletin forums...

when I log on here
first thing I look at is the "unread posts"

For this session, I found "62 unread posts"

Problem is, when I click and go to look at that lost of unread posts,
I only see up to about 25 posts listed.
Maybe its the first 25 or so, of however many unread posts there are?

There is a maximum number of unread posts shown
and I am hoping you can change it.

(I know on Hobbytalk we had the same problem and they didn't realize there was a limit in place, which they then changed to 500 for everyone)

Are you taking in account of mutiple posts in a single thread?

thats a good point, ...and yes, that could account for some of the numbers.

except, that regardless of the number of "new" posts, the viewable amount always seems to be about 25 posts.
(almost as if I get one full page of new posts and no more.
The only time I see more than one page, is when the list is extended with "no new posts, but still contains unread posts, etc")

and I do know for a fact, that this same issue was raised on Hobbytalk's vBulletin forum,
see HERE
and they were able to raise the viewing amount of unread posts to 500.
This immediately changed the amount in my view of new posts.

I'm just questioning whether the same thing is in place here.

So you don't have the 'Showing results 1-25 of xxx' on the right side just above the box of posts and a page number listing of new posts? Mine is currently 'Showing results 1-25 of 114' and has pages 1 2 3 4 5 available to click on.
What browser are you using?

Seems to be working properly for me too. That number does take into account if there are 10 new posts in one thread etc

I don't seem to have that problem, but the thread timestamps don't appear to be updated that frequently. However, the timestamps on the posts in the thread are up to date.

What's the difference between New Posts in the bar at the top of the page and Unread Posts in the upper right Welcome area? I've been clicking New Posts. Never thought of clicking Unread.

I always click the "Unread" posts link first... That way, I get all the stuff I've not looked at since the last time I was here. (usually a couple of hours or so! )

On the upper right, I get this:

Welcome, airdave.
29 Unread Posts since your last visit.
You last visited: Today at 08:16 AM Private Messages: Unread 0, Total 4.


So, I click on the "unread Posts"
and it gives me a page just the same as the "New Posts" page

and on the right
(and at the bottom of the new posts page, is this:

Showing results 1 to 20 of 20

So, the concensus is that "20" posts would include threads with multiple new posts, totaling 29 unread posts. Thats fair.

But it seems as though it doesn't matter how many "unread posts" I get,
the number of showing posts is never any more than 25.
And that indicates to me that there might be a limit to how many I am being shown each time.

I just logged on to Hobbytalk.com. (a vBulletin site with the same layout)
It showed me "1,427 Unread Posts" (I don't visit that often anymore)
And I if I click on "unread posts", I get 50 pages of results (10 topics per page) totaling 500 posts. (500 is the max. they can show me)

you have more than one page of results

when I logged in this morning I had over 60+ posts, and when I clicked on the unread posts button, I got two pages of results, 32 total threads were posted in.
