Soda Can Field Expediency

Howdy,

Our Iron fence caps need replacing.
Replacement Purchase price about $7.00 each.

Just out of curiosity, I came up with this simple soda can cap,

Next will be primer and paint.

Ya, maybe it is cheaper to buy, but not as much fun.

This will be quite a glue test over time.

Cheers,

Bob

It won't hurt to try. It's a good idea using free materials so why not?

Glue will definitely be the weakest link here. When i was doing sheet metal roofing/flashings we avoided using glues and silicones as much as possible because heat/cold/water destroys them in short order.

I'm working in stainless steel now so that would be my material of choice. I have bins of scap to use. Ask around,I bet you can find bored welder like me somewhere near you
