Parts without tabs - advice needed
Hello,
I'm starting on Ken's SR-71 and the first part is the cone on the nacelle. It doesn't have a tab, and doesn't seem to overlap. I know I can add a tab or strip, but I want to learn how others did it. Any advice? Thanks, DM. |

Overlapping tabs creates a step/bulge in a cone.
-for a smoother cone you need an inside joiner strip. Trick is to preshape the part into the proper cone shape, enough that it holds the curve shape without being actually connected at the seam. Then, use an almost triangular joiner strip (the narrowed end goes to the point of the cone) to overlap the interior of the seam. Some guys use cardstock joiners on cardstock parts, but sometime you can use thinner paper for smaller parts. if the part is preshaped enough, you can even edge glue the seam without a joiner strip!
