3D Printers
Morning all
I was wondering if anyone uses 3D printers to create formers, parts, reinforcement, ect to help with the models. When i was building Dave's Saladin, i had a friend create on of the circular formers on his 3D printer out of the wood / Fill plastic filiment that i as able to sand and glue paper to without any issues. Made the fit better than my ability to cut a circle of 1-2 mm cardstock. worked great. just a thought this morning as i bought a 3D printer this summer and looking to see how i can use it for the hobby of paper modeling thanks |

I think a lot of us here, are "old school" and use either a wood dowel or the center piece from the hole saw the correct diameter.
Although I can see where the forming of a pattern and then gluing, shaping, vacuforming parts much like using airdry clay would work for our hobby. Or making parts without having to bend & shape things from wire. They would be a one piece molded part. Like one of our long time members stated before..."It's all good." |

I just finished my prototype of a combo of 3d print and paper. I don't know if I consider it a paper project. The spikes of the Moravian star are paper, the core is 3d printed.
