If anyone have to do this and do that to the stock first or the printer will not print right. I would guess that printer really not up to the task. New printer should be in your next shopping list.

I never have any problem printing heavy stock paper on my Epson 1280. I just feed any stock I want in and it will print and ask for more. 1280 have a lever for adjusting for heavier stock paper and I almost never need to use it. I printed on some very rough water color paper almost as thick as card board, and printed just fine. I love my Epson 1280. It is old. When it die. Next printer will still be Epson.
